Grief is a strange thing and everyone deals with loss and death in different ways but Danny Dyer has taken a recent homage to the late, great Amy Winehouse to new levels of weird.

On Channel 5‘s Lip Sync Battle, the 39-year-old TV hard man and Eastenders actor opted to dress up in drag as Ms. Winehouse, who died in July 2011, and perform one of her beautifully melancholic hits.

Which, if you ask me, is probably bottom of the list of things to do in honour of the singer, who tragically joined the 27 club after suffering fatal alcohol poisoning in her Camden home.

Dyer donned a red dress, a beehive wig, tattoos, winged eyeliner and high heels to perform his ode to Amy, after lip syncing to a Kasabian track in the first round.

Danny told The Sun:

I was born to do this — to be a rock star. There’s no way in the world I will lose to Craig fucking Revel Horwood. Of course he’s my enemy tonight and he always will be.

During the performance, Danny sat at a makeshift bar, smoking, and raised a glass to Amy, who had suffered with alcohol addiction throughout her adult life.

We’ve had enough practise honouring dead musicians, particularly in the past year, which has seen the passing of Prince, Bowie, George Michael, Leonard Cohen and Glenn Frey. Apparently though, Danny (or the producers) missed the lesson on empathy…

As it’s clear Danny is a fan of the Back In Black singer’s music, let’s just hope Ms. Winehouse’s family and friends find the homage in good taste rather than offensive.

GMP/Alamy Two men who won a £4 million jackpot on a scratch card have been jailed for 18 months after it was discovered they bought the tickets using a stolen debit card. John Watson, 34, and Mark Goodram, 38, were seen on CCTV celebrating as they discovered their winnings, but their joy was short lived as the lottery’s organisers grew suspicious when the pair attempted to claim their prize despite having no access to a bank account. You can watch the moment they thought they’d won here: Camelot referred the case to Greater Manchester Police’s Complex Fraud Team, who discovered that the pair had used a stolen debit card to make the purchase in London, leading to the pair, who are from Bolton, being found guilty of three counts of fraud by false representation. Quidditch Leagues Look To Distance Themselves From JK Rowling

Alamy Two major Quidditch leagues have said they plan to cut ties with JK Rowling as a result of her ‘anti-trans positions’ by changing the name of the game. US Quidditch and Major League Quidditch, which play a real-life version of the fictional sport created by Rowling for the Harry Potter series, issued a joint statement confirming that they planned to choose a new name for their game to both distance themselves from the author and avoid future copyright issues. While citing issues arising from the use of the current name, which according to USA Today is trademarked by Warner Bros. and prevent teams from pursuing commercial opportunities, the leagues directly pointed to Rowling’s comments over recent years, which have seen fans and former cast members of the films distance themselves from the author, as a significant reason for the change. Warner Bros. ‘The leagues are hoping a name change can help them continue to distance themselves from the works of JK Rowling, the autho...
